SkillLabs and Singer India Empower 30 Rural Women in Una Through Sewing Machine Distribution and Business Development Support

SkillLabs Resource Services, in collaboration with Singer India Limited, has taken another significant step towards empowering rural women through a comprehensive livelihood development initiative under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme. On 1 August 2026, 30 rural women from Una, Himachal Pradesh, received fully automatic sewing machines after completing a week-long skill training programme, helping them turn their newly acquired skills into sustainable self-employment opportunities.

The initiative was implemented under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, through the Department of Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh. The event was presided over by Dr. Renu Saharawat of the District Red Cross Society, Una, with Shri Jatin Lal, Deputy Commissioner, Una, attending as the special guest. Other dignitaries present included Shri Anshul Dhiman, Joint Director, Industries; Dr. Himesh Sharma, Founder of SkillLabs; Rishabh Sharma; and Sudhir Sharma.

Going beyond equipment distribution, SkillLabs is providing end-to-end business development support to help participating women establish and grow their enterprises. The support includes Udyam registration, developing individual brand identities and logos, establishing social media presence, and preparing credit access proposals based on each woman’s business details. This integrated approach is designed to help women build their own brands, reach more customers, access potential financing, and develop independent income streams.

The initiative reflects a shared commitment by SkillLabs and Singer India to strengthen women’s economic participation and promote entrepreneurship at the grassroots level. By combining practical training, essential equipment, formal registration, branding, digital enablement, and potential access to credit, the programme creates a pathway from skill development to sustainable enterprise creation.

Through such collaborative initiatives under RAMP, SkillLabs continues to support rural entrepreneurship, promote financial independence, and enable women to become confident business owners and contributors to the local economy. The programme reinforces the belief that when women receive the right skills, resources, and business support, they can build sustainable livelihoods and inspire economic growth within their communities.
