SkillLabs Resource Services, in partnership with Singer India, launched an impactful livelihood development initiative on 4 July 2026 to empower 30 rural women in Kafota, District Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh, by facilitating access to sewing machines. The initiative aims to promote self-employment, strengthen women’s economic independence, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities through skill development and entrepreneurship.
The occasion was graced by Shri Harshwardhan Chauhan, Hon’ble Industries Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Other distinguished attendees included Shri Rachit Sharma, General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Nahan; Shri Anuj, General Manager, Singer India; and Dr. Himesh Sharma, Founder of SkillLabs.
Beyond providing access to sewing machines, the initiative adopts a holistic approach to livelihood development through training, skill assessments, and formal certifications. These efforts are designed to help women enhance their practical skills, build confidence, and explore income-generating opportunities by establishing or expanding their own tailoring and stitching businesses.
The collaboration between SkillLabs and Singer India reflects a shared commitment to inclusive economic development and women’s empowerment at the grassroots level. By combining access to essential equipment with structured training and certification, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between skill development and sustainable self-employment.
This initiative marks an important step towards building a culture of self-reliance among rural women in Himachal Pradesh, enabling them to contribute to their household incomes, strengthen their financial independence, and become active participants in local economic development. Through such partnerships, SkillLabs continues to support community empowerment and create pathways towards sustainable livelihoods.
